Ron attended the University of British Columbia where he received degrees in both law and commerce in 1989. The challenges of law won him over and he began practicing civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury. Since 1998 he has practiced exclusively for accident victims. During the course of his career Ron has appeared in all levels of Court in British Columbia. He has successfully conducted both jury and judge alone trials, including multi-million dollar verdicts.
Ron views the practice of law as much more than running trials. A person injured in an accident often has many needs long before their case settles, including income replacement and coverage for treatment costs. Ron ensures that insurance companies like ICBC pay the benefits his clients are owed so that they can focus on what is important – their recovery. As the claim progresses, he explains the strengths and weaknesses in a client’s case so that every client fully understands where they stand. When the claim is ready to resolve, Ron negotiates aggressively to obtain the best settlement possible. While most cases do settle without trial, if in his opinion he does not receive a fair offer, Ron won’t hesitate to recommend the matter be resolved in Court.
Ron is a much in demand speaker at continuing legal education and trial lawyers seminars on a variety of topics including presenting expert evidence, discovery practice and the implied duty of confidentiality. He has presented to doctors interested in ensuring their reports comply with the rules relating to expert evidence.
Since 1998 Ron has been a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC (TLABC) a group dedicated to preserving the rights of individuals by protecting them from the power of big business and big government. Ron serves on many committee’s that promotes TLABC values and currently serves as the Vice President on the Board of Governors.
In 2007 Ron joined Romano Giusti to establish Giusti Nairne. Clients come from all parts of the Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast, and the rest of British Columbia.
Ron has deep roots in the Vancouver area; not only was he born here, so were both of his parents. Growing up Ron was immersed in the law as several family members were also lawyers and judges. Family dinners were always lively debates and it was there Ron first started to learn the art of legal reasoning.
Ron has a beautiful wife and daughter. He is an avid sailor and spends as much time as possible on the Sunshine Coast enjoying a summer retreat first purchased by his grandparents almost 100 years ago.
