What Can I Expect From My ICBC Claim?
If you have been injured in a car accident there are two separate but related parts to your claim. First, under what is known as Part 7, regardless of who is at fault as you incur losses ICBC must:
- Pay medical expenses not covered by MSP or extended health insurance;
- Pay temporary disability benefits (TTD benefits) while you cannot work.
In addition, under Part 7 of the ICBC Claim you may also receive:
- Doctor recommended treatments and rehabilitation
- Homemaker benefits
- Death benefits
Unfortunately benefits under Part 7 are generally quite limited. In most cases you will still have to pay user fees for treatment and you will find that TTD benefits are much less than the income you earned before you were hurt.
If another person is at fault for your injuries you are entitled to full compensation for all your losses. Settlement will include damages for pain and suffering, loss of income, and out of pocket expenses.
